Last week, Bosnian Serb Dusan Tadic became the first person since the Nurem- berg trials after World War II to be convicted of crimes against humanity by an international court. The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia found Tadic guilty of persecuting, beating, and torturing Bosnian Muslims during a 1992 campaign of "ethnic cleansing" by Bosnian Serbs in northern Bosnia. He faces up to life in prison.

The tribunal, based in The Hague, has issued 75 indictments, but so far only eight of the accused ...
