Archaeological studies of submerged aboriginal sites in the extreme southwestern corner of Australia, including those at Lake Jasper, indicate the presence of a very rich prehistory for the continent. Underwater and terrestrial investigations of sites in the region are providing vital data to the appraisals of site distributions, chronology and function in the assessment of hunter-gatherer economy in the coastal region.
