Luxor Opens First Phase of Expansion

LAS VEGAS, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- VIPs will mix with pharaohs, and bellydancers tonight as Luxor Las Vegas celebrates the completion of its Phase I Expansion Project. The $300 million expansion got underway in January of 1996 and includes:

* 1,900 new rooms, including 237 suites, in a ziggurat-shaped "mini pyramid" on the northside of the main pyramid. The 22-story addition brings Luxor's total room count to 4,427, making it the second largest hotel in the United States.

* A moving walkway that now connects Luxor with its medieval-themed neighbor, ...
