Ask different programmers what makes software complex and you'll likely get different answers. Opinions aside, scientific methods exist for measuring software code complexity. This article discusses two of these methods.
The article begins by discussing what is meant by software complexity. It continues by describing the assumptions, workings and shortcomings of two different software complexity measures: the McCabe metric and Halstead's software science. The article concludes with some comments on the state of software complexity measurement today.
