The Army wants to test several unguided rockets to determine if they can be modified to work as radar-guided, short-ranged air defense (SHORAD) missiles, Army Space and Strategic Defense Command (SSDC) officials said yesterday.
The service wants to evaluate this concept, called SWORD (SHORAD with Optimized Radar Distribution), under a year-long advanced technology demonstration, the officials said.
