The National Federation of Municipal Analysts is urging SEC chairman Arthur Levitt to encourage issuers to honor the goal of improving municipal disclosure and avoid using the commission's rules as an excuse to provide investors with less information.
The request, which is made in a letter sent today to Levitt and Paul Maco, director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of Municipal Securities, comes as NMFA officials are preparing to meet with Maco and his staff on May 20 to discuss their concerns about disclosure.
