THIS time last year, Shameless actor Gerard Kearns was telling journalists that his time on the hit Channel 4 show was at an end.

Twelve months later, he's telling the same hacks that he's thrilled to be returning for a sixth series - and even more delighted to have signed on for a seventh.

Gerard has been playing gay Ian Gallagher in Shameless for six years.

And the character's sexuality has seen him involved in some full-on bedroom scenes, typical of the series' title.
