Jan. 25--A lifetime ago, young men trained for war in the commanding brick structure across London Road from today's Rose Garden. The building was Duluth's military headquarters. In its drill hall 50 years ago this week, a teenage Bob Dylan took in a Buddy Holly concert, recalling, decades later, the evening's inspiration. The landmark also was Duluth's entertainment and social center, the DECC of its day. But the concert crowds left in 1967, and the military pulled out in 1970. A shell of its former and once-proud self, the sprawling three-story building is unused ...
