San Diego's regional economy will continue to grow in 1997, extending five years of "real" economic expansion. Each year since 1994 has seen increasingly stronger growth in San Diego County, reestablishing record levels of local economic output.
San Diego's gross regional product (GRP), the value of all goods and services produced in the county, will reach nearly $85 billion in 1997, another record in economic production. The "real" increase forecast for the 1997 GRP is 4.8 percent - the strongest gain in the seven years since 1990.
