Once you have traveled the Karakorum Highway through Pakistan you understand why it is often described as the 8th World's Wonder. Over 700 years ago, Marco Polo traveled the Silk Road into China and wrote of his travels, revealing to the world places most people didn't know existed. The Silk Road opened up over 3,000 years ago. It traverses snow-capped mountains and immense deserts.
