The day we moved into our new house in October 1994, I remember thinking I had everything I'd ever wanted. At 38, I was happily married to my college sweetheart, a museum director in Shreveport, LA. George and I were the proud parents of two sons, ages 3 and 1. I enjoyed my work as a clinical social worker in a large hospital and looked forward to weekends, which were spent decorating our dream house and planning the garden. But I now see that this was just the calm before the storm.
