The Curly Bashkir horse is a native of Russia's Ural mountains. Their fermented milk called Kumiss has been used not only as a alcoholic drink, but also for the treatment of ulcers in hospitals. They are a pleasure to ride, are adapted for cold climates, and have wonderful hair which can be spun.
