VICTORIA, Hong Kong--According to the traditional Chinese calendar, 1997 is the Year of the Ox. But for the people of Hong Kong, 1997 may seem more like the Year of the Dragon.
The dragon is a traditional symbol of China, and China, like a huge dragon, now has its jaws open, ready to swallow Hong Kong. At the stroke of midnight on July 1, Chinese troops will march across the China-Hong Kong border and raise the red flag of the People's Republic of China.
