Despite several studies and considerable attention from news media, the hypothesis that exposure to high-voltage electrical power lines can cause cancer has not been substantiated. Verkasalo and colleagues conducted a large community-based study in Finland to investigate the possible association of exposure to power lines and incidence of cancer.
