WELSH retailer Peacocks shone among the festive gloom on the high street as bargain-hunters snapped up its fashion ranges.
Cardiff-based Peacock Group, which owns Peacocks and womens wear retailer Bonmarche, said like-for-like sales showed 1%growth in the 14 weeks to January 3, but this accelerated to 22% in the final two weeks of the period.
Chief executive Richard Kirk said he had been taken by surprise by the strength of recent sales.
