Decision makers utilizing an expert system (ES), a decision making software program, showed lower confidence and commitment, but made higher quality decisions, than those decision makers who worked without the ES. Little positive relationship exists between decision confidence and decision quality and commitment in a wide range of decision tasks, and ES/decision support system.
