Introduction

Comparative analyses of sexual size dimorphism (SSD) have led to the discovery and confirmation of a broad macroecological pattern termed Rensch's rule (Rensch 1950). This rule states that in comparisons among species, SSD increases with body size when males are larger than females, whereas size dimorphism decreases with increasing body size when females are larger.
