Russia to stop catching king crab in Barents Sea Jan 1
MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Russia will stop catching Kamchatka, or king crab in the Barents Sea starting January 1, 2009.
Federal Fisheries Agency head Andrei Krainy issued a decree restricting fishing in the Barents Sea in 2009, imposing a ban on catching king crab until August 31, 2009, agency spokesman Alexander Savelyev told Interfax. The decree was registered by the Justice Ministry last week.
