December 21, 2008 (KHARTOUM) -- The Bari community in Khartoum issued a statement last week voicing strong criticisms of the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS), which rules autonomously over the diverse peoples of Sudan's vast and fertile southern reaches. The Bari are an agricultural people residing mostly in Juba district of Central Equatoria. But like other southern peoples, some of the Bari moved to Khartoum as they sought new opportunities or fled fighting from Sudan's decades of wars.
