Dec. 20--GRANITEVILLE -- Byrd Elementary School received a special Christmas gift Friday from the Horse Creek Historical Society. Historical Society president Diane Gunter, vice president Ann Mayer and historian Jean Clark Boyd presented Byrd Elementary School with a portrait of Graniteville Company founder William Gregg on Friday. The portrait was accepted by Byrd principal Eddie Watkins in a ceremony attended by district superintendent Elizabeth Everitt and Tammie Newman of Aiken County Public Schools and Weldon Wyatt, who donated the ...
