Black studies comes to power?(importance of a series of conferences to African American Studies)

The importance of a series of conferences, held at several universities, to African American Studies is discussed. The conferences, such as the National Council for Black Studies' conference at Fanon, saw an exceptional meeting of outstanding Black amd white intellectuals with different ideologies. White institutions, with their huge resources, are also helping institutions engaged in Black studies. Such a combination of Black and white forces is a sign of the gathering strength of African American Studies.
