The National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM) is trying to educate the public about the history and modern role of the profession. NAPIM has promoted National Printing Ink Day, an annual event since 1976, with posters, an essay contest, brochures and other materials. The association also has highlighted Benjamin Franklin's background as an ink maker. NAPIM's World Wide Web site offers information about the industry.
