We attack Mars! Two U.S. space probes are now speeding toward the red planet. Will they find evidence of life?

In the recent hit movie, "Mars Attacks!" weird-looking creatures from Mars attack Earth. In real life, however, it is Mars that is being attacked--by weird-looking machines from Earth.
At this moment, in the vast dark reaches of interplanetary space, two U.S. probes are speeding toward the Red Planet. Their mission: To look for signs of life.
Last November 7, Mars Global Surveyor lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida. It is due to arrive in Mars' atmosphere next September, where it will orbit the planet for 687 days, the length of one Martian year.
