The portrayal of Eva Peron in the movie "Evita" by Madonna may lead to a resurgence in popularity of fashion from the 1940s, including shoe styles. Although the movie's success is still uncertain, its publicity has been considerable. Several shoemakers have introduced new designs that combine a contemporary look with '40s and '50s styles. Jewelry, cosmetics and clothing companies also are introducing merchandise based on "Evita."
Two divas meet, and instead of a battle of the titans, one blends into the other and the result is -- hopefully -- the fashion bonanza of the year.
