Researchers detail in 'Growth, maintenance and product formation of autotrophs in activated sludge: taking the nitrite-oxidizing bacteria as an example,' new data in life sciences. According to recent research from Hefei, People's Republic of China, "The autotrophs in activated sludge play an important role in biological wastewater treatment, especially in the nitrification process. Compared with the heterotrophs in activated sludge, information about the growth, maintenance, and product formation of the autotrophs is still sparse."
