The idea of a potential loss of Catholics who might seek the priesthood, because priests are celibate and thus can not father them, is analyzed. Yamil Lara, a lawyer put forth this idea which McBrien finds meaningful. Reasons why this is not a good argument for a married priesthood, is discussed.
