Levi Strauss and Co. introduced wide-leg jeans with great success during the 1996 back-to-school shopping season. Although the company distributed only to department and specialty stores, other manufacturers have already begun planning shipments to discount stores. The time between a style of clothing debuting at department stores and subsequently reaching discount stores is growing shorter.
