Peterson and Connor's analysis on oligopoly of welfare loss estimates for U.S. food manufacturing industry focused on comparing modern theories to structure-conduct-performance (SCP) methods of the 1960s and 70s. Their findings indicate a congruence in the rankings of welfare loss estimates in fifteen U.S. food industries. However, estimations of oligopoly welfare losses based on SCP- and Cournot-type models rule out antitrust targeting regardless of their rankings.
