Jewish works of art have been excluded from art history for several reasons. First, Jews lacked a geographical location and did not compose a single community. A reconstruction of the temples of Solomon also led to the conclusion that the Jews lacked artistic abilities and, worse, had no art of their own. Anti-Semitism in art history also developed due to their anti-art stance arising from the Scriptural prohibition against graven images.
