The symbolism of the sukka, part 2.

The sukka, or 'clouds of glory,' which surrounded the Israelites in the desert after the exodus has two dimensions of symbolism. First, it symbolizes God's protection, love and presence among the people. It shielded them from the sun's heat and protected them from enemy weapons and other dangers. The sukka also symbolizes worldly temporariness and brevity of human life because the nature of clouds indicates transience.
