Faster laboratory detection of MRSA translates to cost savings for hospital.(CLINICAL ISSUES)

Over the past 20 years, the incidence of infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant pathogens including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has increased dramatically, especially in patients in intensive-care units (ICUs) and those who are immunocompromised. (1) In addition, the appearance of community-associated MRSA has increased the burden of this organism in hospitals and in the community.
