Down at Knoch Knolls Park a couple of weeks ago, I was reminded about my childhood searching for four-leaf clovers in Muncie, Ind.

In the Rolling Oaks subdivision with 28 homes, I grew up with 22 boys and girls, all within four years of my age. And summers were the best!

We organized kickball and softball games, playing hard in the empty lot across from my house.

We put on plays and parades. We walked a half-mile to the Catalina Club to swim on sunny afternoons. We rode our bikes and played "Ditch AEem" at dusk.
