The Buckwheat dolomite at Franklin, NJ, has reportedly yielded 41 specimens, including some which contain monazite. Electron microprobe analysis and X-ray diffraction of the monazite-containing specimens reveal that they contain essential rare-earth element. Meanwhile, the Franklin ore deposit is believed to have resulted from stratiform sedimentary deposits which were formed 950 million years ago through recrystallization amd deformation.
