Dixon Ticonderoga Company Buys Silicon Carbide Brick Technology From Carborundum Corp.

HEATHROW, Fla., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Dixon Ticonderoga Company (AMEX: DXT) announced today that it has purchased the technology to produce Carborundum Corp.'s line of silicon carbide bricks and shapes.

With the completion of Norton Refractories Co.'s and Carborundum Corp.'s merger into Paris-based Saint-Gobain, Dixon Ticonderoga enters the market as one of only two remaining U.S. companies supplying the product line worldwide. The company estimates that annual worldwide sales of the product line is $30 million, of which $15 million is sold in the U.S.
