WINCHENDON - Ruth E. Dube says she saw it coming. She knew in October that November would be a hard month, and now she says December will be even more difficult.

She should know: As director of the Community Action Committee, Mrs. Dube has watched the number of people in need in the area climb rapidly since last summer, when she took the position.

"A lot of people have lost their jobs recently. There are people who have suffered illnesses or been disabled. They need help," she said.
