THE MEMOIRES OF PHILIPPE DE COMMYNES (1445-1511) have been continuously edited, reedited, and translated since the early sixteenth century. There were no fewer than 120 editions of the Memoires between 1540 and 1643. They have been translated into Latin (1545 and 1548), Italian (1544), German (1551), Dutch (1524), and Castilian (1643). At least one translation of the Memoires has appeared per century since the seventeenth century.
