For those in the ceramic industry, lead can be a word that evokes concern. Congressional committees, state legislators, regulators of all sorts seem to spend a considerable amount of time on health and safety issues related to lead. This governmental activity is usually documented in the popular press with stories concerning the harmful effects of lead. Consequently, the general public becomes alarmed.
