Privileged Americans are morally obliged to maintain the global balance of privilege through ethical immigration policies. These policies should transfer a portion of the resources of the rich to the American poor. They should also increase foreign aid commitment to poor countries and admit more immigrants so that more foreigners can partake of the benefits of US life. Finally, immigration policies should give first priority to the neediest people, such as refugees.
