Dental implants are fixtures for artificial teeth that are implanted directly into the jaw bone. As a permanent replacement for missing teeth, they are growing in popularity over the traditional denture treatment, but the current state of the art in implant technology can use some improvement. Current implants can come loose, and by exerting excessive levels of stress on the jaw, they can ultimately cause the bone to weaken.
