Niche categories can be properly selected by following several techniques. First, retailers should create their own identity to distinguish themselves from other retailers. They should veer away from competition to dominate a certain niche. Retailers should also develop a reputation to gain the trust of customers. Other techniques include niche advertisement, customer knowledge, willingness to change and persistence.
