Raw materials are in short supply

Diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) is mainly used for the production of PU (polyurethane) products. China's total consumption of MDI in 2007 was 780 000 tons, an increase of 23.6% over 2006. Because the output of MDI is far from meeting domestic demand, China imported 458 000 tons MDI in 2007, a rise of 10.6%. With the rapid capacity growth of MDI in China, the tight supply of MDI in the domestic market will be eased.
