News Corporation Ltd. Chairman Rupert Murdoch and MCI Communications Corp. Chairman Bert Roberts were open to accepting a third partner in ASkyB to help assume the $1.5 bil to $2 bil cost of the direct broadcast satellite (DBS) project. Analysts conjecture that Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI) may be at the top of their list since the venture is badly in need of satellites and TCI owns two but lacks the DBS license necessary to use them.
