"This past was waiting for me when I came": the contextualization of Black women's history.

Many historians have found it difficult to use contextualization to analyze Afro-American women's history. However, six new books have been able to effectively use the contextualization approach to analyze Afro-American women's history. These books make extensive use of oral and written personal accounts which are correlated to the time periods in which they were written.
