With New Mexico's state capital preparing to commemorate its founding four centuries ago in 1610, it seems appropriate to recall another such event, by way of example.
I'm referring here to the Coronado Cuarto Centennial observance that marked the 400th anniversary of the expedition of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado to the Southwest, 1540 to 1542.
