In the rugged wilderness along the north shore of Lake Superior, an immense cliff rises up from the water to meet the sky. Known as Agawa Rock, it stands solid as wave after wave explodes into white spray at its base. For untold centuries the rock cliff has withstood the harsh elements of sun, wind, and water.

Long ago, the shaman' or medicine man, of the Ojibwa Indians came to Agawa Rock. He came alone along the steep forest trail to reach this sacred place--the place where the earth meets the spirit world of the sky.
