For two to three weeks every October, when the jacarandas are in bloom, Tshwane can be rated as one of the most breathtaking cities in the world.
But as residents of the city, we are so used to the jacarandas that we do not appreciate what we have.
Ask the foreign tourists visiting the city during this time and they will immediately tell you they have never seen such a beautiful city.
The bad news is that, by law, the jacarandas, not being indigenous, are set to go. No new jacaranda trees are allowed to be planted.
