TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1996--East Indies Mining Corporation ("East Indies") (formerly Chance Mining and Exploration Company Limited (EIMC-CDN) announced today that it has initialled five 7th Generation Contracts of Work ("C.O.W.") with the Indonesian Department of Mines in Jakarta.

Details pertinent to the five initialled C.O.W.s are as follows:

1. North Mirah Property - Signatories are PT Anjarsamba Kencana
