Research concerning the optimal intensity, frequency and duration of physical activity remains uncertain. The available data only clearly indicate that physical activity and physical fitness prevent disease and enhance longevity. The totality of evidence also shows that health benefits increase with increasing activity or fitness. A practical public health message may state that some exercise is better than none, while more is better than some.
