The 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games left legacies which can be best described as direct results of resistance, persistence and providence. It was in Los Angeles that the Olympic medal award ceremony took place for the first time with the winners arranged on elevated victory stands. Photo-finish cameras and the media press made their first appearance as China sent a lone athlete for the first time in the Olympics. It was also in 1932 that the two-week format for celebrating Olympic games was finally implemented.
