Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson's 'A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde' depicts the struggles amid social realities of poet, gay rights activist and essayist Audre Lorde. 'A Litany for Survival' tells the story of Lorde through readings of her poetry, conversations with her daughter and with her lovers and her own monologues. Poets Adrienne Rich, Sonia Sanchez, Jewelle Gomez, Essex Hemphill and Cheryl Clarke also talked of their friendship with the black poet. Parts of the film also touched on the life that Lorde lived as she was dying of cancer.
